Male fertility decreases decade by decade, especially after the age of 35 sperm Aging can be a significant cause (and sometimes the only cause) of serious health and developmental problems in offspring. The elder of the father at conception the greater the risk. Mark Teich wrote in his article, life of a man "Older men who can still design can have such damaged sperm they put their offspring at risk for many types of disorders and disabilities. " Male fertility is a serious concern in the field of sexual health of men, but it seems to be ignored in society.

Age is not the only concern. An unhealthy lifestyle can also lead to damage sperm and a higher level of birth defects. While no one can stop time, you can reduce your risk of birth defects by leading a healthy lifestyle. Some key research findings show that with each decade, and with poor self-care (eg, smoking, alcohol), men's fertility decreases. Several studies have shown that the older man, more fragmented DNA in his semen ejaculated, resulting in a greater risk for infertility defects, miscarriage or birth (Teich 07).

Other research identifies intelligence, Down syndrome, schizophrenia and certain cancers is linked to increasing paternal age. In fact, men over forty are nearly six times more likely to have children with autism than men under thirty. Some rare but serious birth defects appear to be inherited exclusively from the father.

The biggest threat to the offspring is deteriorating less blatant DNA that is passed on. Experts believe that free radicals cause a substantial amount of damage. Free radicals are destructive particles, highly reactive energy produced by the plants of our body, mitochondria, as metabolize oxygen. The sperm DNA is damaged by even low levels of free radicals. While high levels of damage leading to infertility, miscarriages or spontaneous abortions, low levels of "chew" DNA, but the sperm can still fertilize (Teich, 07).

What men can do to help protect their fertility?

  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • exercise regularly.
  • Watch your diet and eat healthy.
  • I do not smoke.
  • Ask your doctor about the side effects of all medications that can affect fertility.
  • Be more interested in casual sex. Some sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can cause infertility.
  • Do not use recreational drugs (especially marijuana).
  • Be careful about chemical exposures if you have a job where this could be a risk (ie agriculture).
  • Keep your stress levels low, if possible.
  • Although still debated, it is feared that the increase in scrotal temperature can impair sperm production. It is advisable to wear loose underwear, reduce the time you spend sitting, avoid saunas or hot tubs for long periods and so on.
  • Always have your regular annual physical with your internist. An underlying disorder can cause infertility.
  • Continue to educate yourself on the subject.

Women were those mainly support the weight of fertility concerns. When something is wrong with fertility and birth defects, women are often blamed and humiliated. Men should play a more active role in their health with special emphasis on their responsibilities for reproduction. It seems to be a slow and gradual decline in men, whereas in women it is "time is up" quickly to about 35. The extremely slow decline contributes to the lack of consideration of their fertility men Similarly women aged duty. Infertility can greatly stress a marital relationship. A comprehensive approach as a couple will help them get through fertility problems, they might experience. More importantly, however, is to be proactive so that the chances of encountering such problems are mitigated first. Staying healthy is now imperative for this critical reason.
