How Ted and Audrey Met:

The Geisels and Dimonds were close friends. Ted and Audrey realized they were more than friends when on a yacht in whale watching, an uprising a wave Audrey thrown into Ted's arms. "He grabbed me and we looked at each other and awareness was reciprocal You look away and you say stupid things, but it would never be the same.".

They had about 40 guests at their wedding. Since single punch and cake were served at the wedding reception, Ted's father held a small dinner with champagne in a local speakeasy. Ted was 23 years Helen was 29 years old when they married. They honeymoon at the Hotel Travmore in Atlantic City.

Early in their relationship, Helen encouraged Ted to shoot to live. author and book publisher for children, Helen supported Ted helping the editorially and handle most business and financial details.

Helen committed suicide 23 October 1967 at the age of 69 from an overdose of sodium phenobarbital capsules. Helen had been ill since 1954 with cancer, constant pain in his legs and feet, and partial paralysis. His memorial service was November 9, 1967.

Audrey had a previous marriage.
